Default Lets play chase the ranger.

Surely enough many of you who have played random arena a decent amount have come across people who, when all else fails or sometimes just for the sake of doing so, run away. I don't mean a tactical advance to the rear, I mean just run. Run for 45 minutes to the point that the opposing team gets so angry and annoyed they leave.

I use the title I chose mostly because more often than not its the IVEX trapper prebuild that is constantly pulling this crap. Well why not, they are practically built for it, storm chaser, barbed trap, pin down. I know when this happens to a group I'm in I know I'm not the only person it ticks off.

Now some people will say oh well equip cripple and burdens and water magic. Do you honestly expect somebody to altar a carefully put together and well balanced build just to account for these little sadist punks?

I had an idea the other day that I thought would solve this problem quite well. Remember diablo 2? Fatigue? I don't know about this in PvE but as far as tombs and arenas I'm all for it.

It would need altered though. The way it should work is you regain fatigue IF 1. Your standing still, or 2. Your attacking someone (may it be chasing them down as well). This way when somebody is running away, they eventually run outta fatigue and move at about crippled speed. In order to regain fatigue they must stop or attack. This will end the burning hatred for the prebuild trappers who run away for 45 minutes feeding off the agony of his opponents who just want to move on to the next round.

As far as tombs, a lot of groups take off running when they are down to a few men. There is nothing with that, maybe your opponent will forget you and kill another team. But some tombs builds are structured that they cannot effectively chase down and kill people. Tombs isn't as big of an issue as random arena cause at least in tombs you have 7 people telling the sadist to just die.

i can't figure out how hard it would be to hunt down a ranger.
the only time the ranger would get away is when its 1v1 or a random team areana.
having a good team means being prepared for most situations. if you don't want to keep chasing him then just quit. is it really worth 45 min of your time?

Nope, I just quit in those situations. Seriously... my time is valuable. If it were the team arena, tombs, or GvG I would fight to the absolute end... but I would also be prepared to do so. The random arena is supposed to be quick and to the point. When it's not, I leave. I don't feel bad about it.

I completely agree. I do random arenas a lot, and as an axe warrior/elementalist I have to build up Dismember, then Axe Rake to cripple someone, and it's SO annoying when people run! If it's say a monk with full health and all his/her teammates are still alive and fighting, I completely understand why they're running, and I'm fine with it, but if it's anyone with half their health, no living teammates, and they basically don't stand a chance, it's the most annoying thing in the world. One time I was in the arena and EVERY time I hit someone on the opposing team, they ran, even the Warrior! Maybe I'm just intimidating.

I don't think that fatigue should be put in, however. Remember, when they are running and you are running, you get fatigue too. Ranger uses SC and is further ahead, regardless of how crippled you both are. Ranger and you gets fatigue. You try to chase ranger with fatigue, and he waits for SC to pop back up, and has strength to run again + more movement speed.

But... people who do this need to be kicked in the shin. Hard. This is only delaying the inevitable, and is wasting everyones time. Running in a 4v4 random is pointless when you have ~30%hp and no team. Just take the death and die with dignity.

Re-read previous statement - you don't lsoe fatigue if you are chasing after someone, basically only the head of the pack loses fatigue.

And this would also help the warrior class, no matter how well built a warrior is, in pvp they are virtually useless because everybody in pvp just runs from warriors. For axe wars it takes time to built up for cripple, sword wars just suck so go go hamstring for them, and hammer wars get no cripple whatsoever.

LOL ok this happend today in the 4vs4 arena in ascalon.

Our whole team is alive... only one guy (a warrior) is alive on the other team...

I guess this warrior really just wanted to take out our ranger "Shadamehr Trvenic" before he died... so he's chasing him around and around....

Now our ranger instead of doing the smart thing and just stopping in front of us so we all can nuke this last warrior, just keeps doing laps... a few of us tried to follow... then would stop and head the other way... Finally thanks I guess to the warrior on the other team finally realizing what was going on... he just stopped and let us kill him...

A waste of time just because our ranger was to selfish to just stop running.. and maybe die/maybe not... but would rather do laps trying not to die.

So what you're saying is that you're a Leaver and when someone takes random arena as seriously as you do team or tombs, you get ticked off Not everyone plays the game the way you do/want them to. Learn to live with it...

Anytime I've ever seen a runaway, we just kill off everyone else that's not running first than go after him. If the runner is in your group than you should leave unless you're winning. Then leave after that game is over.

Er, if they run use your 4 people to block them off. They can't possibly avoid all 4 of your team mates. Don't all just chase after him... use your brain and corner him and use spells.

easy said...
but i remember a situation in the team arenas, where only me (ele/mo - protection smiter) and my teammate (close range nuker) were alive and no more rez signets available.
...and NOW try to corner a ranger with SC and TU.
i was only doing dmg with zealots fire and balthazars aura, and my m8, well as i said: closerange spells as well...
it was really luck that he finally wasted a second and underestimated the power of close range spells... lucky for us, or this could have been gone on forever...

possible solution: if there's only 1 man without a rez possibility, the other team outnumbers him and there's no kill in 60secs, then he loses.
